Previously, I published my predictions for the following year towards the end of each September. My forecasts proved to be eerily accurate. I have not made such predictions since 2019, when I reported on the 2020 market, for several reasons. However, today, I share my predictions for 2026. I am confident these will be as accurate as my previous conclusions.

Publishing trends of 2026 signal a transformative era identified by AI innovation, digital reinvention, and sustainability. Authors and publishers who invest in technology, talent, and adaptability will not only survive but lead the field.
We will see significant changes in the coming year, many of which will be substantial. With that in mind, I start this post by focusing on AI as this will affect every author, like it or not.
